Established in 2016, Ambassadors of Change (AOC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and a platform for girls and women to be agents of change.
Our mission is to give young minority women a once in a lifetime opportunity to serve as an ambassador of change and to encourage, empower and enlighten, communities, states and nations. Our purpose is to be a rising voice in the community and to make a difference, by providing educational forums and events that focus on health disparities, poverty, violence and major issues plaguing communities in our nation and around the world.
Ambassadors of Change, Inc. (AOC) is gearing up for its 7th year of empowering minority women to be change agents in the community. Over the past 7 years, our programming has reached over 5,000 youth and women across over 37 states and US territories. In 2021, we hope to reach another 1,000. Due to COVID, We will be expanding our signature Call Me Miss Ambassador Conference virtually to reach young women in communities all over the world.
Through this free conference, we equip young minority women and girls, with the tools and support they need to rise as leaders and change agents. Why is our passion centered on empowering young minority women and girls?
The pressures and challenges these young women are facing are greater than ever.
This is the current reality for them:
Over 82 percent of Black and Latina women are overweight or obese.
56% of girls as young as 13 have been sexually harassed and young
Black women have the highest cases of sexual abuse.
Black and Latina women account for 80% of reported femaleHIV/AIDS diagnoses.
Young women of color are 20% more likely to experience serious mental health problems and not seek help.
Due to the current racial unrest, we are seeing more young women needing support and resources to support their communities. Despite the struggles, these young minority women are strong and highly
educated resources that should be nurtured, supported and empowered. They are rising more than any other group in educational attainment and entrepreneurship. They deserve more support and a place as leaders in all areas.
AOC recognizes the needs of minority young women and girls and is focused on empowering them to take charge of their lives and communities. One of the missions is to give young minority women a unique opportunity to serve as ambassadors of change in their communities. Through leadership development, mentorship, community engagement training and symposiums, AOC is cultivating a corps of young minority active citizens and change agents. Its focus is equipping Minority women and girls with the guidance and tools they need to address issues that predominate affect them and their communities, including gender equality, race, access to education, health disparities, socioeconomic determinants of health, entrepreneurship and professional advancement.
We ask that you join us in empowering the next generation of leaders and change agents, as they take what they have learned to rise as leaders and community advocates. We’re excited that this movement in support of young minority women is growing, but it can only change more lives with supporters like you.
